Can Blazing Scream conquer T12 without Mythics?

Draft field notes — the experiment is beginning; results are still to come.

Can a Blazing Scream Warlock clear comfortably through Torment XII without Mythic items? That’s the question I want to answer.

The target is a build somewhere around the investment of MrRonit’s Midgame setup: ordinary Uniques and Legendaries, developed enough to make its interactions work, without waiting for a collection of Mythics. “Without Mythics” includes the Talisman. It doesn’t mean no Uniques, no upgrades, or no investment in Paragon.

I’ve started a Blazing Scream Warlock guide to collect the references, explain the choices, and eventually record what works in practice. For now, it’s a research draft rather than a promise that copying a shopping list will unlock T12.

The starting point

GrumpyGamer’s Season 15 showcase was my inspiration. The fast Mephisto kill is particularly interesting: perhaps the useful goal is enough damage to make difficult fights short, with enough healing and barriers to keep attacking.

That’s the direction I’m going to test. Once the build can sustain its attacks, further investment should go toward shortening the fight. If an offensive change causes deaths, resource stalls or long retreats, it hasn’t necessarily improved the build.

The equipment initially looked close to MrRonit’s Midgame approach, but the skill choices tell a different story. GrumpyGamer uses Command Abodian, Command Fallen, Bombardment, Blazing Scream, Sigil of Chaos and Metamorphosis on the reported bar. His explanation also calls for investment in automatically cast Sigil of Subversion. Fallen supplies resources; Bombardment and Blazing Scream supply damage.

That makes the experiment more interesting than copying one author’s gear and another author’s buttons. The skill bar, automatic casts, Talisman and Paragon need to support the same plan. The guide compares GrumpyGamer, MrRonit and Icy Veins to make those differences easier to understand.

What needs testing

The biggest open choice is the Talisman. The reported video arrangement combines two three-piece set bonuses with a unique charm through a requirement-reducing Seal. The strict no-Mythic version needs its own arrangement. The guide lays out the alternatives; I haven’t established which gives the best result.

Paragon is another part of that question. A finished planner can show where an author ended up, but it doesn’t tell me what investment is sufficient for this task. I want to understand which bonuses the actual rotation maintains and whether the next points produce a useful improvement.

I’ll judge progress by repeatable clears, boss kill times, resource interruptions and deaths, while recording gear, Talisman, Paragon points and glyph levels. Changing one part at a time should make it easier to distinguish an improvement from a good run. In any case, I’ll be refraining from using Mythic items until I succeed or give up. I will try without Ancestral items at first as well.

T12 progression and Mephisto will be separate benchmarks. The showcase motivates the experiment, but its exact Mephisto difficulty still needs confirmation. My own results will need their conditions recorded too.

Follow the experiment

The working guide contains the skill upgrades, equipment references, Talisman options and Paragon tradeoffs. I’ll update it as testing turns the open questions into findings.

For now, the answer to “can it conquer T12?” is still open. The aim is to find a setup that can do it reliably—and explain the investment and choices that made it work.
